hahaha I know, right?
those trailers seemed pretty srs business, though, I hope they capture the light and funny elements of the characters too D:
I saw the preview during the Superbowl, was thinking "special effects look decent, wonder what movie this is." Then it says, "The Last Airbender" right at the end, leaving me to think, "really? Really?" What the fuck is up with whoever named this shit, I know it wasn't M, it was some other jackass, but really? I realize all the cool names were taken, like "The Last Samurai", "The Last Ninja", "The Last Starfighter", etc, but what the fuck is up with "Airbender"????
It is bullshit. If you believe a word of it, then you also believe in creationism, flat earthism, Bigfoot and Santa Claus. You are a Holocaust denier and leave teeth under your pillow for the easter bunny. you believe in skygods and lizard people and that a woman can effectively hold a position of authority. you believe that global climate change is a result of Al Gore's CIA weather machines. You look at the TV and believe that the people you see are actually in there. You are a vegan. You believe in colon cleansing, trepanation and take echinacea when you get a cold; you'll listen to an "alternative healer" over your own MD, especially if said healer is non-white. And you believe that "they" are out to get you, but for some reason your "they" is white, rich, male, American and votes Republican -- in other words, your dad -- and don't even bother to look out at the pond where the real "they" is swimming around fighting for breadcrumbs, going QUACK QUACK QUACK.
he bends air, duh
The movie was going to be just Avatar but James Cameron took care of that.
I'll totally see it. "Avatar: The Last Airbender" is probably the best North American kid's show of the past decade, very good at straddling the line between western and eastern, childrens entertainment and Serious Stuff.
Don't know if anyone answered this yet (god this thread got long fast) but one of the first things I remember hearing about this movie was that they couldn't call it "Avatar" because that title was already reserved for some new James Cameron epic. They're not gonna call it "AVATAR: The Last Airbender?" You think they'd try to ride the "Avatar" gravy train.
.
Well I think it's required of them to do that..adds more depth to the characters I think...lol
I did...but it was mixed in with a bunch of other stuff sooo...![]()
I had no idea the thread would get this long either(god this thread got long fast)![]()
I understand being able to reserve "Avatar," but this movie is "Avatar: The Last Airbender." I don't see how he can claim rule to every single title with the word "Avatar" in it?![]()
The humourous parts add depth to the characters as well... I too thought the trailer was very "Xtreme". Avatar was very lighthearted and also sad and solemn at times. Hopefully they captured they tone and they're just tailoring the trailer to attract people who want to see a generic action movie.
.
Probably...but I guess I wouldn't be too upset if they made it more serious...because then it would be something of its own...instead of a copy...
