Very very cool. I'm liking the urban settings, especially what seems to be some action in China. I hope they dial back a bit on the BOWs though. Using that shit more sparingly makes them more of a big thing. Too much of it and it's all a bit meh.
It seemed to me like there was a mix of things going on there, predominantly zombies but also something akin to Las Plagas and Progeenitor, but of course it could just as easily be something new.
Yeah, I've noticed that in Leon's segments he''s mainly dealing with zombies, Chris seems to be mixing it up with plaga esque types, while the new mercenary character is doing a bit of a RE4 Leon/Ashley tandem while dealing with larger BOWs. It could be Capcoms way of placating the general fan base by splitting portions of the game that harken back to earlier RE games, and parts that feel more in line with RE4 or 5. Speaking of Ashley, she was the President's daughter, so I'd assume she makes an appearance judging by what happens to her father in this trailer (if that chick with the mercenary guy isn't actually her already). The "Mr. President!" thing was cheesy though. The new mercenary character with the blood seems interesting for now. I hope they don't overplay the 'perfect asshat' stereotype with him though.
Actually I'm wondering if the woman with the new merc character was Ashley based on appearance and voice, then again it could be the return of Sherri Burkin or someone else altogether.
Some sites out on the net like Joystiq are saying it's Ashley, even though it's not officially confirmed yet. I really do think it's a safe bet based on the circumstances.
Still too much money to be made off of Resident Evil to end it, but there does need to be some kind of re-invention in order to keep it going ala the transition from 3 to 4.
So it appears as though the "unknown merc" is related to someone in RE storyline, we just don't know who yet. Supposedly the girl with him is in fact Sherry Birkin, and the big mofo chasing him looks to be the new Nemesis. For the most part the games broken down into three parts and three styles - Leon is going to be old school zombie survival horror, Chris will be more action oriented and using creature elements of the more recent games (Las Plagas and Progenitor) and the mercs section will be that element of three where you're consistently on the run but it could be more physically action oriented compared to the other two. Based on what we learned in 5 is it possible that the merc is one of the failed Wesker clones?
Seeing as how his blood could apparently save the world it makes sense, though that sounds a little too much like Alice in the movies.
That goes back to RE4 when Salazar transforms, suddenly there's Leon talking shit like he was Dante and this was going to be childs play, dirt off his shoulders and all.
